Buying the Best Floor Register Tip #2: Make it last!
In my last article about buying a floor register I told you to buy it once. One and done is a great way to view home improvement purchases. This tip is in the same vein. After you buy your floor register, make it last!
Here are a few simple things you can do to make sure your floor register lasts as long as possible.
1. Take them out when you vacuum. Our registers are durable, but they aren’t invincible. They can be scratched and scraped, so don’t be lazy when you vacuum around them. Pop them out or use a brush attachement.
2. Watch your step. Again, our registers are very tough but there are limits. High heels, heavy boots and certain other types of footwear might have a lasting impact on your floor register. Better safe than sorry. If you’re putting a floor register in your parlor and your parlor will see a lot of high-heeled foot traffic don’t take any chances and get a cast-iron register.
3. Chairs can be vicious. More registes fall to chair legs than to anything else. You’ll be sitting at your desk, minding your own business when suddenly you need to scootch your chair over. Mid-scootch you hear a harsh crack and realize you need to go floor register shopping. The legs of chairs, tables, etc. can all do serious damage to your floor register. Consider this when you’re arranging your furniture, buying your floor registers or both.
