The Immaculate Collection: Baldwin Hardware Archetypes
Baldwin Hardware now offers The Archetypes Collection, the next level of decorative hardware. This collection boasts intricate styles that pay homage to the finest decorative designs throughout history. These are not imitations or replicas. These are tributes to the timeless creations that have influenced every level of architecture and interior design that exists in the modern world.
Baldwin’s Archetypes come in three different series: The Villa, The Chateau, and The Craftsman. Each series covers the entire range of decorative hardware. Elaborate handlesets, eye-catching house numbers and dazzling door hardware are all represented.
The Archetypes collection continues Baldwin Hardware’s streak of excellent craftsmanship and breathtaking designs but breaks away from Baldwins’s forged, solid-brass roots. The Archetype collection is born from two types of casting: Lost Wax Casting and Sand Casting. Lost Wax Casting, also known as precision or investment casting, is an ancient egyption technique that allows for intricate patterns and designs that no modern techniques could duplicate. The Chateau and Craftsman series are both created using Lost Wax Casting, created with the same principles and skills that made jewelry for the Pharaohs.
Sandcasting is a younger practice, but just as rarely seen in modern architecture. Developed in the 19th Century, this system of casting bronze has survived to create the Villa Series, a one of a kind selection of bronze hardware that harks back to days when things weren’t just built, but built to last.
